The technological advance in dentistry has been allowing the conquest of new tools and techniques that simplify the work of dentists meanwhile leaves in the background the relationship of posture on the daily work, resulting in most cases, health problems that interfere with clinical performance. Considering the great importance that the ergonomics has for the increment and the success of the actions undertaken during the dental care, this study aims to present and discuss the ergonomic standards and guidelines in the dentistry related specifically to working posture and recent studies in this field.It is known that the consolidation and implementation of ergonomic principles that identify, point and suggest modifying the inadequacies posture are needed as an effective way to ensure the health, safety, high performance, motivation and satisfaction in dental practice. descriptors: Human engineering • Dentistry • Professional practice • Posture
