The paper deals with the educational trajectory of Piauí’s writer Francisco Miguel de Moura, from the plot of “Miguel Guarani: mestre e violeiro”, a biographical work of his own that deals with the history of his father’s life, Miguel Borges de Moura who occupied a prominent position as schoolmaster and guitarist in the vast region of Picos-PI and that influenced teacher’s education for his child. To do so the theoretical contributions of the New Cultural History will be adopted from the studies of Le Goff (1998), Burke (1992), Bloch (2001) and Chartier (1990) as well as Bosi’s methodological guidelines (1994) and Halbwachs’ History of Education (1990), together with Lopes and Galvão (2001), Souza (2000), Pereira (1996), Sampaio (1996), Costa Filho (2006), Pine (2007), in addition to the debates surrounding the teacher’s education and knowledge acquisition undertaken by Nóvoa (1989), Formosinho (2009) and Tardif (2003). This is a historical research that adopted the documentation research as a method.
