This thesis departures from the understanding of bobbin lace as a practice that configures objects, people, relations and subjectivities. It aims to detach the importance and the participation of gestures and technique engagements in these processes. The description of different dimensions related to making a lace and forming a lace-maker, from the respective actions and operative sequences, seeks to emphasize the processes instead of the final products. The changing and hitting of the bobbins teaches us not only about lace and the lace-makers of Canaan (Trairi — CE, Brazil), but illuminates aspects that are related to their productive choice and the transformations they can — or cannot — incorporate into their production.
