Technological innovation has progressed in such a fast pace that has been part of almost every aspect of our lives. Health Technology is understood as medicines, equipment, medical devices and surgical procedures used in medical care as well as the organizational and support systems through which this care is dispensed. In this sense, when a new technology is announced sets in motion strong human motivations and expectations of patients, doctors, administrators institutions and healthcare companies. However, increasing innovation and use of health technologies entail rising costs of global services and expenses. Thus, when deciding on the purchase of new hospital equipment means that the management of such a process should be directed towards the satisfaction of the quality and safety requirements at the lowest possible price. In this sense, this study aims to address the incorporation processes of medical equipment in teaching hospitals: a case study at the University Hospital of Brasilia (HUB). The overall objective is to discuss the formal processes of incorporation of medical equipment in university and teaching hospitals in Brazil through the resources of the Program for Restructuring of Federal University Hospitals REHUFE the HUB. The methodology applied to this study translates as a bibliographical and documentary research, qualitative, conducted for the purpose of analyzing the phenomenon lectured, trying to understand it through the collected considerations by renowned authors on the theme chosen by the related legislation, as well such as a case study represented by structured interviews applied to managers of the University Hospital of Brasília HUB. It can be concluded that efficient management of equipment should be employed from acquisition to tracking the life cycle, based on criteria and protocols to obtain success in reducing costs and increasing benefits.
