The aim was to develop a strategy for the management of research competencies in students and teachers of health sciences careers at the Señor de Sipán University, which considers the relationship between the logic of scientific research and the logic of solving professional problems, to improve the quality of scientific training. A cross-sectional survey design was used and health personnel from a university in northern Peru participated. The BARRIERS scale was used (Funk et al. 1991). The data were analyzed using descriptive inferential statistics. The sample consisted of 82 participants. The data was collected in December 2020 using a form on the Scale of Barriers to the Use of Research. A Likert-type scale composed of four subfactors and 29 items was used. In addition, the instrument included two questions about perceptions. Which of all the above elements do you think are the THREE biggest obstacles to using the research? and Are there other circumstances that you think are barriers to using the research? A 82 participants were surveyed from December 7 to 9, 2020, they responded to the instrument online, the average age was 35 years. Regarding academic level, we found that 39 were students, one participant was a bachelor, 25 with a master's degree, six with a doctor's degree and 11 with a second specialty. According to the work center, 11 worked in the clinical part, 27 in teaching, 13 in other sectors and 31 did not work. The average years working was 10 years. In conclusion Measures should be implemented that favor research and its application in clinical practice.
