The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between stress and coping styles of young basketball players. 90 basketball players selected by appropriate sampling participated in this correlational study. The ‘Scale of Coping with Stress’ and “Humor Styles Questionnaire” were used as data collection tools. Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated for data analysis and multiple linear regression analysis was applied. The results of the analysis showed that not all humor styles had significant predictors of coping with stress. The self-confident approach was positively correlated with participatory humor style, and negatively correlated with aggressive humor. The optimistic approach to coping with stress was positively correlated with self-enhancing humor and negatively predicted by aggressive humor. However, while the helpless approach was positively related to the submissive approach, it was found to be negatively related to the confident and participatory humor style. The results showed that basketball players who have healthy humor styles (participant and self-improvement) also use healthy coping styles more.
