—A new method,is introduced to analyze lossy Inhomoge- neous Planar Layers (IPLs) for both TE and TM polarizations in this paper. The IPLs are subdivided into several thin linear layers instead of uniform ones. The chain parameter matrix of linear layers is ob- tained by expressing the electric and magnetic fields in power series expansion. This method is applicable to all arbitrary lossy IPLs. The accuracy of the proposed method,is verified using a comprehensive example.
