Objective: To identify, through scientific productions, the effects of music therapy on the promotion of breastfeeding. Method: This is an integrative review carried out between November 2017 and April 2018. The databases that were part of this review were: Medline and Lilacs, using the following descriptors: "musicoterapia", "música", "aleitamento materno"; "Music therapy", "music", "breast feeding". Results: Among the three articles included in this study in relation to the research design, all were randomized clinical trials. The main benefits of music therapy in milk production were increased milk volume, increased fat content and reduced maternal stress. Conclusion: Music therapy was used as a strategy to increase breastfeeding rates in mothers of hospitalized babies and reduce maternal stress caused by the clinical state of their children. Considering these results, it is suggested that studies related to music therapy and the promotion of breastfeeding in mothers of hospitalized infants should be intensified, given the benefits indicated.
