Objective: Describe through a review of the scientific literature the Kangaroo Mother Method and its application in preterm newborns as a humanized nursing care in Brazilian Hospital Units. Methods: For that, an integrative bibliographic review was done on the subject. Results and Discussion: It has been considered a plausible technique to increase the mother-baby bond and survival, besides reducing the morbidity in these births. It is a technique that needs an affective, caring and cautious look. Thus, the nursing professional is the one that gets the most out of a humanized neonatal care, acting directly and indirectly in the care of the baby. Final conclusions: The method is ideal for the establishment of the family bond, and can reduce the suffering before a premature birth. It is also necessary to plan and manage the health team so that the problems elucidated during the application of the technique are circumvented and patient care is adequately offered.
