Objective: To identify the women's knowledge profile as predisposing factors to the development of vulvovaginal candidiasis. Method: is is a descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach carried out in a health unit in which your sample included 12 women participating in the Family Planning during the first half of 2010. We used a semi-structured questionnaire as a data collection instrument. Results: The sample was made up of young people aged 19-24 years, brown and cohabitating; 33.3% attended the meetings for a year and other 33.3% seven years ago; 75% know about the disease; 8.3% showed no interest in the subject, and 58.4% do not know the way of acquiring this disease; 75%-to prevent; 49.9% use condoms; in 66.7% there was no occurrence of the disease episode; 75% the provider did not provide the necessary guidance. Conclusion: The lack of orientation predisposes to the emergence, development and dissemination of vulvovaginal candidiasis. The participation of the couple in the meetings of family planning contributes to health promotion and disease prevention.
