This work has two objectives in relation to the theme of conflict resolution. The first is to take a cross-sectional approach to the complexity of environmental conflicts, and secondly to situate some positive aspects and to address the challenges of using mediation in management. The use of methods such as mediation is perceived by the insufficient legal protection over environmental conflicts. To achieve these objectives, the hypothetical deductive method was used. The use of mediation features advantageous aspects such as flexible dialogue, equality of parties, procedure with less formal rigor than the traditional judicial rite, and greater agility. It was evident that the resolution of environmental conflicts differs from other spheres, while they are more complex and involve multiple parts. Similarly, barriers arise in the context of conflict management, since in the environmental sphere conflicts bring together aspects of public administration that have specific legislation and inflexibility for agreements.
