The aim of this article is to identify, in a preliminary way, the main discussions about the emergence of Occupational Therapy deriving out of the circulation of theories and practices from northern countries. The analysis is based on the following question: Through which routes did Occupational Therapy theories and their foundational concepts travel, and how these concepts were translated into different historical and geographical contexts? Four chapters of the book “Terapias ocupacionales desde el Sur” were selected; these present an overview of the current state of the profession in Latin American countries: Brazil, Colombia, Argentina and Chile. the conclusion reached is that, after 50 years of the creation of Occu- pational Therapy programs in Latin America, nowadays a blend of knowledge and practices can be found, which comprise a theoretical work that is spread again through different terri- tories, not only in this continent. What was considered just a rumor or silent stories before, today have become a paradigm that connects realities and thoughts inside Latin America. These thoughts are translated into praxis able to dialogue with and from local knowledge and to put into circulation other occupational therapies.
