LEVEL OF HYDROGEN SULFIDE IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS DEPENDING ON THE PRESENCE OF DIABETIC NEPHROPATHY KUTSYK D.Yu., SKLYAROV Ye.Ya. The Danylo Halytsky National Medical University in Lviv Aim. To investigate the level of hydrogen sulfide in patients with type 2 diabetes depending on the presence of diabetic nephropathy. Material and Methods. The investigation included 70 patients with T2D (40 men and 30 women). Besides standard laboratory examination, additional sample of blood for hydrogen sulfide was taken and a 24-hour urine sample for microalbuminuria was collected. All patients were divided in two groups: patients without DN and with DN. Patients underwent antidiabetic treatment with metformin. Independent Student t-test was used to compare the differences between the groups, and Pearson correlation coefficient (r) was calculated. Results and Discussion. It was revealed that hydrogen Ð2ÂÅÍÜ Ã2ÄÐÎ¥ÅÍÓ ÑÓËÜÔ2ÄÓ Ó ÏÀÖ2aÍÒ2Â Ç ÖÓÊÐÎÂÈÌ Ä2ÀÁÅÒÎÌ 2 ÒÈÏÓ ÇÀËÅÆÍÎ Â2Ä ÍÀßÂÍÎÑÒ2 Ä2ÀÁÅÒÈ×ÍÎ ̄ ÍÅÔÐÎÏÀÒ2 ̄ Êóöèê Ä.Þ., Ñêëÿðîâ a.ß. Conclusions. Level of hydrogen sulfide is decreased in patients with diabetic nephropathy and can serve as its early indicator.
