Los salvajes del Sur

Recognizing migration role in Uruguay modernization process, this article identifies influences that migrant artists had during the first half of the 20th century. Based on secondary information, it traces expressionist permutations in the fields of architecture, dance and theater, literature, with special emphasis on painting. Far from being conclusive, the analysis is thought as an exploratory step into a broader field of study.
