Based on online information and in-site research, this paper reflects upon two groups of actions and works which configure two formats of discussion and production of contemporary art: Manifesta (a itinerant biennial event held in Europe since 1996) and Vila Sul (Goethe-Institute Salvador-Bahia residency program). In both cases, we present a brief contextualization of the temporary exhibition and artistic residency modalities, respectively. Then, as a diagnostic, we discuss the contributions of each edition of Manifesta in the configuration of a platform for debate, production and artistic promotion, and produce a balance of the first three years of Vila Sul program activities and its results. Finally, we point out the perspectives of the next announced editions of Manifesta in 2020 and 2022 and Vila Sul for 2020, highlighting the relevance of collaborative practices and the consequences of international exchanges nowadays.
