Projeto de extensão em comunidade: estreitando as relações entre a Instituição de Ensino e a comunidade

This paper presents a report of experience in na internship supervis ion in Social Work, developed through the Extension Project of Centro Universitário de Form iga, UNIFOR-MG, about the strengthening of relations between the Institution of Educat ion and the community, represented by a industrial neighborhood of Formiga MG. The view of the stage in that field is to link theory and practice in dealing with community interventi ons. The aim was to seek the understanding of the outlying district of the city, where the populat ion has difficulty to access 48 SILVA, N. F. In that stage performed in the year of 2012 wit h interns, along with a field supervisor, relevant data were collected through empirical research. For the progress of this, were used some methodological procedures such as bibliographic al, do umentary, qualitative and quantitative research. The instruments used were da ta collected through semistructured questionnaire, interview and participation of the residents in the study. However, the study at first had to know the history of the appearance of the ne ighborhood, its population composition and the problems that plague that community to have a better understanding of it. The Industrial neighborhood is made up mainly of low-income families wit h little professional training.
