This research aimed to identify how companies with the Toyota Production System (STP – Acronym in Portuguese) perform the process of converting tacit into explicit knowledge, regarding to changes in society and organizations it is becoming increasingly and is important to correctly identify the individual knowledge there. In addition to identifying, capturing and disseminating for common use, obtaining competitive advantage. Thinking about the methodology, firstly, a bibliographic research was carried out to understand the theme proposed, identifying in the PPGGI (Programa de Pós-Graduação em Gestão da Informação – Acronym in Portuguese) the researches with the similar theme, followed by the development of a research instrument that would corroborate the objectives and proposed problem. The methodology of this study was quantitative and descriptive. Data were obtained through the Google Forms® (electronic data collection tool), having as population the industries that are in the FIEP (Federação das Indústrias do Estado do Paraná – Acronym in Portuguese) platform and have over 20 employees, with a sample of 1149 companies within the defined parameters. In an initial application between April 08th and June 30th of 2019 (with two resubmissions on May 05th and 31st to reinforce the invitation to participate). Regarding the survey results, it was evidenced that the respondents mostly consider users of the Toyota Production System in their operations, as they pointed out as users of the tools of this philosophy, it was found that companies claim to value sharing and constitute facilitating environments to share knowledge in their facilities, because they reaffirmed having socializing environments of employees and allow their autonomy in front of a problem or challenge. It was considered at the end of the research that the companies chosen as sample use the STP and make the conversion of knowledge through the capture, retention and dissemination of it, with environments available for this purpose, making this research satisfactory in accord of the proposed problem, Still in the perspective of suggesting a model of knowledge conversion for organizations, it was the recommended model of the authors Nonaka and Takeuchi, with gaps for new studies and future models.
