India's Public Distribution System (PDS) is the big gest and very important distribution network of its brand in the world. PDS was established around World War II as a wartime allowance measure. Earlier than the 19 60s, allocation during PDS was normally dependent relative on impor ts of food grains. It was lengthened in the 1960s a s an answer to the food shortages of the time, consequently, the g overnment set up the Agriculture Prices Commission a d the Food Corporation of India to progress domestic procureme nt and cargo space of food grains for PDS. In the 1 970s, PDS had developed into a worldwide scheme for the allocatio n f subsidized food.
