The study was conducted to examine the influence of independent variables on overall extent of adoptio n f improved boro paddy cultivation practices in Biswan ath sub-division, Sonitpur district of Assam. Ex-po st-facto research design was followed. Data were collected by means o f personal interview schedule. A total of 120 farme rs were selected as sample respondents by following random sampling tec hnique. Karl Pearson’s product moment coefficient o f correlation, Multiple Regression and‘t’-test were the statistica l techniques used for the analysis of data. The fin d gs reveals that socio-economic factors viz ‘type of family’, ‘size of operational land holding’, ‘annual income’, ‘occ upational status’, ‘mass media exposure’, ‘extension contact’, ‘social participation’ and ‘economic motivation’ were foun d positive and significant relationship with extent of adoption wh ile ‘risk preference’ had significant but negative correlation.
