Since the second half of the 20th century, social theory and philosophy have developed, from very diverse perspectives, a critique of the sovereign subject that finds in the subject of rights its paradigmatic matrix. The assumption of a free and conscious individual, owner of himself and morally autonomous, is present as a theoretical and practical premise almost exclusively in the sphere of law. Sphere that, far from being restricted, is integrated to social and cultural life, to politics and its institutions. Last great pillar of western modernity, it is not maintained theoretically unscathed, but it is sustained as only "condition of possibility" to think a rational social order, that, on the other hand, seems to crumble in more and more accelerated multicausal processes.
