This article examines some of the lessons learned in the Netherlands during the development of a logistics hub in the airport region and summarizes the following recommendations: a dedicated partnerships between public and private organizations that own land in the wide airport region to optimize the value added activities as a spin-off of the airport as a cargo hub,; a dedicated public private partnership to globally promote the airport region as an attractive location for international logistics; a clear airport related logistics concept to be marketed internationally; a continuous market analysis to understand the changing concepts in the supply chains; and adequate infrastructure in combination with a built in system to continuously improve the logistic processes via the hub.
