EnglishThis paper aims to investigate the Sino-Angolan relations between the establishment of the People’s Republic of China in 1949 and the end of Jose Eduardo dos Santos’s presi‑ dential mandate in Angola in 2017. The analysis of the links between these two countries allows to highli‑ ght the two main objectives under‑ lying Chinese operations in Angola. From a political point of view, it is possible to see that the People’s Republic of China has sought to pro‑ mote a positive image among the international community through the implementation of Development Coo‑ peration projects in several develo‑ ping countries, including Angola. From an economic stance, it is pos‑ sible to conclude that the Chinese government seeks to increase the market share of Chinese companies in the Angolan market, as well as guarantee their access to Angolan natural resources, most notably oil. portuguesEste artigo analisa as relacoes sino-angolanas desde a fundacao da Republica Popular da China, em 1949, ao fim do mandato presidencial de Jose Eduardo dos Santos em Angola, em 2017, evidenciando dois objetivos principais subjacentes a atuacao chi‑ nesa neste pais africano.
