The use of vegetable waste as bioadsorbents for the elimination of heavy metals from liquid effluents, has gained a valuable importance in the environmental field. The bioadsortion is considered an efficient and low cost method compared to the conventional techniques. This research shows the results that were obtained from the chromium (Cr) elimination contained in a solution of Potassium dichromate (K2Cr2O7) by using Moringa Oleifera shell. The effects of the main variables of operation such as contact time, adsorbent dose, pH and temperature were measured. Under optimum conditions and using the diphenylcarbazide colorimetric method, a 90% of chrome elimination was obtained with at pH of 3. The results show the great potential of bioadsrobents obtained from the Moringa Oleifera shell in the decontamination of liquid effluents that contain high level of heavy metals.
