In Brief For patients with diabetes, the additional diagnosis of HIV increases thechallenge of self-care management. However, in patients with HIV who develophyperglycemia, the added responsibilities can be overwhelming. This articledescribes the research studies that link treatment of HIV with the developmentof diabetes and offers suggestions for screening patients with HIV fordiabetes.
