The study of Yeh et al. (1) raises awareness of the pulmonary dysfunction associated with type 2 diabetes. Prospective 2-year controlled lung function data regarding subjects with type 2 diabetes from the inhaled insulin (Exubera) development program have recently been published (2,3) and extend the results reported by Yeh et al.
