Nu mer i cal in ves ti ga tions were con ducted on flow and heat trans fer in an out ward con vex cor ru gated tube with var i ous struc tural twisted tape in serts. The study in ves ti gated the in flu ence of twisted ra tio on ther mo dy namic reg u la tion and mech a nism in the cor ru gated tube. The re sults in di cate that Nusselt num ber in the cor ru gated tube (Nuc) ex ceeds those in the cor ru gated tube and smooth tube by 120-136% and 171-317%, re spec tively. Mean while, the fric tion fac tor in creases by 148-153% and 476-514%, re spec tively. The best over all ther mal per for mance (h = 1.97) is ob tained with a high twist ra tio (y/w = 5). How ever, the high est ther mal per for mance (Nuc/Nus = 4.78) is ob tained with the low est twist ra tio (y/w = 1.25).
