Template condensation of α-diketones. such as 3,4-hexanedione or benzil, with 1,n-diaminoalkanes (where n=4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or 12) in the presence of Mn(II) resulted in the formation of complexes of the type [MnL(NO 3 )]NO 3 (where L = 16 to 32-membered macrocycle). These complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, conductances, magnetic measurements, as well as IR and electronic spectra.
