Factors determining the appearance ofAnostraca are multiple. Belk and Nelson (1995) suggested that temperature is the primary environmental factor determining seasonal occurrence of anostracans. Pool longevity may also be of importance in the appearance of different anostracan species (Petrov and Cv e t k o v i c , 1997). Dierckens et al. (1997) stressed the importance of unlimited food resources and the lack of predators.
