Carbonate rocks present several challenges regarding the analysis of petrophysical parameters and full understanding of the dynamics of fluid flow in their porous systems. Techniques using X-Ray microtomography, three-dimensional digital model reconstruction of these rocks, and the simulation of fluid flow in the reconstructed porous systems have been continuously developed and studied. This paper presents a possible approach to the analysis of the Representative Elementary Volume (REV) according to the estimates of porosity and absolute permeability in a stromatolite sample using Digital Rock Physics, involving all steps necessary for the reconstruction of porous systems and numerical simulation of fluid flow in different sample subvolumes in a region of interest (ROI).
