In this study the effect of varying the air gap, between 1 mm – 280 mm, on insulation of windows is researched for eight cities in the Aegean region. Optimum air gap for windows is enhanced for the cities in Aegean region based on the results of this study. With this approach optimum air gap for cities are calculated as follows; for Izmir 14 mm, for Denizli 13 mm, for Usak 12.5 mm, for three cities (Aydin, Manisa, Mugla) with the same exterior temperature 13.4 mm and for two cities (Afyon, Kutahya) 12.2 mm. This study introduces optimum air gap approach for cities in the Aegean region.
