This research seeks to establish the way the Andean and South American energy integration will be achievable and desirable. The way to do so, is only through the new energy policy, which is based on the generation, transformation, distribution and commercialization of the electric power obtained from sources or renewable resources in the region. The process is based on planning, productive reorganization and under a suitable regulatory framework that allows the free investment and the democratic governance. The new vision of energy policy in the Andean region would need to be estimated based on the principles of efficiency, complementarity, com¬petitiveness; these are achieved through wider energy policy and energy market modernization in which economic viability as well as, advantaged sectors such as, macroeconomic, industrial, social, environmental and politic are involved. Ultimately, it is a search for a new energy architecture in the Andean region that allows a common matrix convergence, as a first step for the real energy integration in South America.
