This paper examines the epistemological shift that took place in England during the 17th Century and how it was reflected in piratical and buccaneer travel logs. It explores the practices of visualization and space in quest of knowledge, in the narrative of three privateers who crisscrossed the Central American isthmus: William Dampier, Lionel Wafer, and John Cockburn. --- Original in Spanish.
