Objective: To identify and relate aspects of social education mediated by the ICTs to strengthen the teaching and learning processes in virtual environments. Methodology: exploratory qualitative research, which allows the addressing of formative processes mediated with ICTs in unreal contexts, their needs and flaws regarding the construction of knowledge and the generation of meaningful learning with pertinence. Findings: the approach to the focal point revealed the potentialities offered by the social interaction and the democratization of knowledge, and the acknowledgement of the intrinsic relation between the learning obtained in a development virtual network and the social dimension of the participants. Conclusions: the need to make possible a free and opened learning is confirmed; a learning that democratizes knowledge and promotes a proactive participation, as well as to conduct research processes which potentiate the social, technical and didactic value of the ICTs. Thus, a development virtual network allows the interaction from the social skills of the person, and the plan of conceptual and technological frameworks that qualify the e-learning and the management of knowledge.
