Searching for Quantum Gravity with Neutrino Telescopes

Testing specific phenomenological predictions of quantum gravity in the neutrino sector is possible using existing detectors. In particular, flavor mixing in addition to conventional mass-induced oscillations can lead to distortions in the atmospheric neutrino spectrum as observed in highenergy neutrino telescopes such as AMANDA-II, ANTARES, and IceCube. Furthermore, discovery of galactic and/or extragalactic neutrino beams will open further avenues to search for violations of Lorentz invariance, quantum decoherence, and other quantum-gravitational effects.
