Tourism plays an important role in the regional economic development and it is one of the most growing sectors. That is why this study was made in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico, using a validation instrument to measure tourism competitiveness. The Lawshe method was used to verify it, finding a content validity index (CVI) of 0.84. The analysis of construct validity was carried out applying exploratory factor analysis with a pilot trial of 32 samples with a 0.969 reliability in the Cronbach alpha test. In general, the instrument has suitable psychometric characteristics for future research.
