Whale watching is already an important economic activity for communities that have the resource. Te present investigation evaluates the tourist service of the gray whale sighting in Puerto Adolfo Lopez Mateos and Guerrero Negro. Te indicators that were used were quality of the tourist service, alternative tourist attractions, and the socio- economic perception of the localities, by means of surveys. Visitors were satisfed with the tourist service, but it difers according to the locality. A series of recommendations are detailed to improve the service, enhance the scope of tourism, and generate greater economic benefts.
