In this review a description is made about some applied biopolymers to the agro industry of biodegradable packaging, as well as some concepts related to coating for foods products and other membranous structures. These films give transparency, flexibility and hardness. The films elaborated with biopolymers and with commercial addition of plasticizer increase the biodegradability and improve the mechanical and isolating properties of the films. With the use of biopolymers from renewable natural resources, the possibility to produce coating and biodegradable packaging from native raw materials native to Latin America is open for food protection and others agro-industrials uses.
