Primary Care Approaches in Lip Palate Clefts and Prevention

Birth anomalies have important implications for the life of the child and his / her family. Lip palate clefts are common birth anomalies. These anomalies are due to the effects of genetic and environmental factors. It is very important to identify these factors and remove them. Multidisciplinary work is required in the prevention and treatment of lip and palate clefts.  The incidence of cleft lip and palate in children can be reduced by providing consultancy services to the person, family and society, by identifying groups at risk and by following women who are pregnant or planning pregnancy. Primary care staff, who frequently meet individuals of all age groups and sexes, should be involved in interventions aimed at reducing the risk factors that play a role in the formation of cleft lip and palate, raising awareness of the society and maintaining the care of children with lip palate clefts. In this article, it is aimed to determine primary care approaches in the lip palate clefts and prevention. Dogum anomalileri, cocugun ve ailesinin yasaminda onemli etkilere sahiptir. Dudak-damak yariklari sik gorulen dogum anomalilerindendir. Bu anomaliler, genetik ve cevresel faktorlerin etkisi ile meydana gelmektedir. Bu faktorlerin belirlenip ortadan kaldirilmasi oldukca onemlidir. Dudak-damak yariklarinin onlenmesinde ve tedavisinde multidisipliner calisma gerekir. Birey, aile ve topluma danismanlik hizmeti verilerek, risk altindaki gruplar tespit edilerek ve gebe olan veya gebelik planlayan kadinlarin takibi saglanarak, dudak-damak yarikli cocuga sahip olma insidansi azaltilabilir. Her yas grubundan ve cinsiyetten bireylerle sik karsilasan birinci basamak calisanlari, dudak-damak yariklarinin olusmasinda rol oynayan risk faktorlerini azaltmaya, bu konuda toplumu bilinclendirmeye ve dudak-damak yarigi olan cocuklarin bakimini saglamaya yonelik girisimlerde bulunmalidir. Bu makalede, dudak-damak yariklarinda ve onlemede birinci basamak yaklasimlarini belirlemek amaclanmistir.
