Analysis of life patterns related to hypertension in taxi drivers

The taxi driver have more than 13 hours long working hours and irregular life pattern by the nature of their jobs. Also, they are most middle-aged male of high abdominal obesity. However, hypertension study of these drivers is not. In this study, we investigated association professional characteristics and life pattern of taxi drivers and hypertension. Life pattern took the questionnaire survey. The survey data had been collected from 72 taxi driver who were visited for health education class in a general hospital in Seoul area. Their age is over the 50 and they checked blood pressure, waist, hip circumference, blood lipids and blood sugar tests. They have high level of health concerned, regularly exercise and low smoking rates but. they have short time sleep duration. In addition, hypertension in the prevalence is 41.7 percent. As a result, because life pattern modifications reduce substantially prevalence of hypertension and cardiovascular disease, an active education is required.
