SAPHIRE 8 is being developed with a phased or cyclic iterative rapid application development methodology. Due to this approach, a similar approach is being taken for the IV&V activities on each vital software object. The IV&V plan is structured around NUREG/BR-0167, “Software Quality Assurance Program and Guidelines,” February 1993. The Nuclear Regulatory Research Office Instruction No.: PRM-12, “Software Quality Assurance for RES Sponsored Codes,” March 26, 2007 specifies that RES-sponsored software is to be evaluated against NUREG/BR-0167.
