Some of the Pu bearing solutions at PFP have chemical species that are not compatible with the vertical calcination process. These elements (Na, K, etc.) need to be removed prior to processing in the calciner. The proposed means of removing the contaminates are ion exchange and EIChrom resin (EIChrom is a trademark of EIChrom Industries, Inc.). This limited assessment study evaluated possible locations for the liquid pretreatment process and selected glovebox HC-7C as the best location for this process in the PFP
