This paper briefly describes the use of Argonne`s Intense Pulsed Neutron Source to interrogate composite materials. Such materials make up ceramic engine parts, nuclear reactor components, advanced jet engines, etc., and IPNS can be used to make predictions about material quality and life expectancy. The neutron diffraction measures internal residual stresses
