The recently formulated thermodynamic theory of elastic bodies prone to damage has been further developed. This formalism is based on classical thermodynamics using the local state approximation, with a significant amount of attention paid to non-isothermal processes. Certain concepts are being clarified via the use of Onsager`s reciprocal relations. Planned work includes a significant effort to develop the fundamental elements of an exact thermodynamic theory, which until now has been restricted to the one-dimensional case, and will be extended to two and three dimensions.
