We appreciate the effort that the authors of the commentary 2. The possible use of added water to accelerate decompomade to read our paper and reflect on these results and the consequences for sanitation for the poor. However, we feel that the concerns raised by the authors of the commentary can be resolved, which we aim to do with the reasoning below. The commentary addresses three main points:
