This paper addresses these issuesusing a multi-country political economy model. Having established at the outset that globalfree trade is optimal and that it is initially feasible as a one-shot game, the paper investigatesthe possibility of achieving it through the regionalism approach. The goal is to determine thelikely equilibrium size and number of RIAs.
