: This project allowed students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The Ohio State University to compete in the AFRL University Challenge Project. These yearly projects provided an invaluable experience for our capstone students. Approximately 90 design students contributed to the conceptual design of the projects for the first 2 years. Students benefited from understanding the problem, developing innovative concepts and proposing detailed solutions. Smaller teams of students completed the final projects for these first two years. For the 3rd year a 7 student team worked 6.5 months on creating a solution. Students benefited greatly from traveling to the event and participating in the competition. The project benefited the teaching of design in our capstone design program. This report summarizes 3 projects that were completed by the capstone design teams at Ohio State in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
