: Three computer/calculator programs were developed to solve tethered- balloon cable problems. The programs provide information on cable tension, geometry, and spacial positions from the balloon to the surface with a variable profile of wind speeds and azimuths. One program allows the holding of a constant cable length and the determination of a new balloon altitude and cable profile for any number of different wind fields. Both printed and plotted outputs are provided. Complete documentation including flow-charts is provided to permit the programs to be adapted to computers having different language than the Hewlett Packard 9810 used in their development.
