Beginning in 2001, the New Brunswick Department of Education has launched a commission for educational reform, which has included a revision of the secondary level French curriculum. This new curriculum promotes the organisation of classroom activities into didactic sequences, as proposed by Dolz, Noverraz et Schneuwly (2001), and gives greater importance to socio-cultural aspects. Such sequences integrate linguistic, discursive, communicative, and sociocultural learning within the framework of projects that are significant to pupils.
