Influencia de fenómenos meteorológicos y variables geográficas en el deterioro del Malecón habanero (La Habana, Cuba)

Located in the northside coast of La Habana, the Malecon is one of the most famous public and touristic sites from this Cuban city. Its conservation has arised as one of the most urgent issues for local managers, especially, in the current context of Climate Change. This study deals with the deterioration mapping of this urban infrastructure as well as with the analysis of the impact of meteorological events and controlling geographic factors. This mapping procedure was performed by means of the use of remote sensing and spatial and statistical analysis in GIS. Moreover, the study was conducted through the consult of references, maps and remote sensing of high spatial resolution, which let obtain the Malecon’s deterioration mapping. The results are unprecedented and quite useful for local managers.
