In the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula, the Segura River Basin has a structural deficit in the resources/demands of more than 317 hm3/year for the 2015 scenario. This chronic water shortage and the commitments implementing the Water Framework Directive, require some initiatives and investments, public and private, in order to improve the quality and sustainability of water use. The sewerage plans, water technologies, and measures to reuse, have recovered more than 131 hm3/ano wastewater which is treated and then applied to irrigation and ensure other uses such as the environmental in the Segura Basin.
